Summary: Kossack "Fishoutofwater" has a diary up on the World Bank's report about the real reason food prices have been going up across this planet, leading to food riots and increased poverty.

I would like to expand on this diary by pointing out one thing which screamed out to me, the explanation for why it was "necessary" to hide this report, the silver lining in this cloud of starvation.

Summary: Apparently forgetting that freedom never sleeps, Stephen Colbert decided to take off this week.  So I won't be getting to hear his take on the US being ranked the 16th happiest country in the world.

What follows is my attempt to show how he'd cover the story.

Summary: After a smackdown by Larisa Alexandrovna (Rawstory journalist) of a Jonah Goldberg piece on Obama and patriotism, I did what I usually do to people I disagree with (Mr. Goldberg, in this case)...I analyzed the crap out of him.

What I intend to do in this diary is show you what happens when you do a few word replacements in discussions of "America".  I'll be looking at Mr. Goldberg and Sean Hannity today.

Dear Mr. Olbermann,

  I'm sure I don't need to tell you that, this Monday, you're going to be sailing into a storm with your intended Special Comment over your views on Barack Obama's stance on FISA.  While I disagree with the idea of defending him over this, I like your show enough to avoid doing a "You suck." diary over the matter.
  Instead, I'm going to try and find a way to be constructive about this by offering some advice.

Summary: Last night on Countdown, Keith Olbermann spoke with CNBC's Chief Washington Correspondent John Harwood about John McCain and Barack Obama.  And I found myself in another one of those instances where I hoped and prayed that I misheard the statement made...that statement being, "Barack Obama loves to get attacked from the Left on being too moderate on the War on Terrorism."

Tell me I misheard this, or tell me Mr. Harwood is smoking something.

Summary: There's a new ad out giving praise to Bill O'Reilly for his continued ratings success.  I'd like to offer my own praise for such a monumental achievement...as only a Kossack could.

Summary: The NY Post has done a story about how a "restless leg syndrome" drug has unfortunate, sexual side effects, and about how Keith Olbermann was diagnosed with RLS, and about how this drug will make him less than sexually adequate should he choose to use it (which the article implies he will, or else why bother publishing this?).

I know the Post has its problems with Mr. Olbermann, but this is a really sad attempt to ruin him.  Now if you really want to take him down, let someone who's actually watched the show (that'd be me) tell you how it's done.

Summary: I've watched, this weekend, the feuding between my fellow Kossacks over Tim Russert's legacy.  And I've been trying to come up with a simple, ironclad system for determining at what point the criticism can begin and at what point it's just intolerable.  Problem is, nothing's locking into place.

So I'm asking for your advice, if you're willing to give it.

Summary: Oh, Steve Doocy.  I'll admit that Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is one of the funniest movies I've seen in the past few years.  But when Mr. Burgundy and the boys objectified women, it was done as a joke about how wrong such objectification is.

You're not actually supposed to suggest that your female co-anchor get a 976 sex-hotline number.

Summary: As you may know, Bill O'Reilly has a new book coming out about his formative years.  This inspired me to take a look at what he, and other figures from the political landscape, might have been like when they were younglings.

Summary: Yesterday, Kossack Elishastephens wrote a diary about Dennis Kucinich's attempt to impeach George W. Bush.  The reaction to this measure was mixed.  For posterity's sake, I intend to list the reasons given by my fellow Kossacks for why we should ignore the Constitution and let Mr. Bush get away with breaking the law.

For the sake of courtesy, I will neither print the names of the commenters nor their precise language, so that nobody will know exactly whom I'm talking about.

Summary: This is an experimental diary.  My intention is just to rattle off some (literal) dreams I've had about people in the political world...and of course invite you to toss in your own if you'd like.

Summary: Ladies and gentlemen, the challenge has gone out.  Stephen Colbert once let the Heroes take footage of him in front of a green screen and put it into anything we wanted (so long as it didn't make him look like anything less than the embodiment of America that he is).  Now, since John McCain has chosen to do his Tuesday night speech in front of a green screen, we are once again called upon to be creative.

Do you have the balls to take on John McCain?  Huh?  Do you?

Summary: Once upon a time, Keith Olbermann was "He Who Must Not Be Named" over at Fox.  Now they're saying his name so frequently (14.5 times in a six minute & eight second clip [the rest of the clip is just the poster promoting its website] ) that you'd swear they were getting aroused by it.

Summary: The following is an add-on to Indyslip's diary about the NY Post printing Keith Olbermann's address over a story about him and his taxes.

Basically, I want to give a little background on the website that started this mess, Olbermannwatch.

Summary: Katie Couric recently reminisced about how the Bush Administration, facing questions it didn't like concerning the invasion of Iraq, threatened to cut off press access to the Administration.

What if the Administration had actually gone through with its threats?

What would we have really missed from not seeing a more press-friendly Administration?

I'd like to present a hypothetical look at two interviews we never would have seen (though technically, we still haven't):

#1. Chris Matthews asks Condoleezza Rice a single question, and all Hell breaks loose

#2. Keith Olbermann interviews George Bush (do I need an explanation?)

Summary: Well, Keith Olbermann has already responded to the first "Olbermann called the troops 'cold-blooded killers' " rant by Mark Levin.  Don't know if he wants to take a whack at Levin's second attack, but I'll do my small part to give some analysis.

  Don't you just love waking up, going onto Dailykos, and reading a headline like that in nice, bold font?  Anyway...

Summary: In yesterday's diary I talked about how Laura Ingraham misinterpreted a statement by Keith Olbermann to make it seem like he was calling the entire US military a bunch of cold-blooded killers.

  I was going to include the content of this new diary at the end of that one, as an update.  But most people who were going to read that diary already did so.  And if I put the update there, you wouldn't find out about this latest bit from an apparently highly-listened to radio host named Mark Levin.  And this stuff is funny.  Sick, but funny.
